Jon
Neuman
December 15, 1940 – August 25, 2021
LIMA — Jon "Jack" L. Neuman, 80, passed away, in his home, on August 25, 2021.
He was born on December 15, 1940 to Charles E. Neuman and Mary Alice (Moeller) Neuman in Lima, OH. His first elementary years were spent in Perry School then the family moved to Shawnee, where he graduated in 1958. He attended The Ohio State University where he pledged Sigma Chi Fraternity, was an OSU football manager under Woody Hayes, and graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He remained an avid Buckeye fan. While home on summer break in 1961, he met his future wife, Wanda Harrison of Wapakoneta. They married June 29th, 1963.
Jon started his business career at his families' business at Ohio Decorative Products in Spencerville, OH. He independently represented them for 44 years until the company closed its doors. Jon and his sons, Jason and Aaron then branched out into other manufacturing, service, industrial, and agricultural ventures.
Jon had a great sense of civic responsibilities as he served on the Allen County Board of Health for just over a decade and also had a great love for the Allen County Airport as he served not only as a board member, but as a working board member from 1993 right up until his death, even serving as President for many of those years. He strived to make the airport welcoming to all visitors entering Lima.
Jon was a devout Christian and a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. Many people knew him as the sweet man that would greet them with a smile each Sunday morning at the doors of Lima Community Church. He also served on several Church Boards throughout his life beginning at First English Lutheran Church where he and Wanda were married followed by Shawnee Alliance Church where he attended and served many years before moving to Lima Community Church where he completed his service.
For those that knew Jack, they knew he loved to tell stories and had an infectious laugh. He also loved to hear others laughing and having a good time. He rarely met a stranger and would try to make a good first impression in hopes that it would make a lasting impression.
Jack loved his family immensely. When he was not working, he was with his family at sports events, dance recitals, concerts, birthdays, etc. He also was an avid fisherman and would light up whenever he or someone in his boat would have a fish on the line. He loved spending his summers with his family up on Treasure Island in Ontario, Canada. Besides Canada, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, family, and friends and visiting many countries such as Greece, Italy, Israel, England and recently loved taking steamboat cruises up and down the Mississippi River.
Jack is survived by his spouse of 58 years, Wanda Neuman and their two sons, Jason (Marla) Neuman, and Jon Aaron (Dr. Jean) Neuman, his grandchildren, Landon (Ruthie), Evan, Madeline, Jaden, and his sweet great granddaughter, Cosette.
Jack had a life fully lived and now lives on not only in our hearts but eternally in the presence of his Lord and Savior!
There will be a celebration of life service on September 24th at 1:30 p.m. at Lima Community Church.
Funeral arrangements to be made by Thomas E. Bayliff of Spencerville. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to LifeWise Academy on 1844 Baty Rd. Elida, Oh 45807.
