Kathy Comer passed on Monday, January 16, 2023 following an extended illness. She was born on January 29, 1955 to Allen Comer and Creta (Koenig) Comer Mueller. She completed her undergraduate work at The Ohio State University and received her Master's degree from the University of Dayton. She began her teaching career at the Northwest Indiana Special Education Cooperative in Crown Point, Indiana. She returned to SPencerville local schools and taught, mostly third grade, until her retirement in 2015.

She is survived by sisters Karen (John) Swickrath, Diane Merricle and Darlene Comer all of Spencerville. Brothers Earl Comer of Spencerville and Don Comer of Lima, OH. She is also survived by niece and nephews Bethany (Rocky) Bennett, Brad (Tayler) Swickrath, Allen (LeeAnn) Merricle and Todd Merricle of Spencerville, OH, John (Mindy) Swickrath of Union, KY and Aaron (Haili) Comer of Lima, OH. She is survived by great nieces and nephews Donovan Bennett, Raven (Devin) Bender of Holland, OH, Chloe and Brynn Swickrath of Union, KY, Lucas Merricle, Charlotte and Sophia Merricle, Beau and Rylynn Swickrath all of Spencerville, OH and Evelyn and Madelyn Comer of Lima, OH. Also survived by great-great niece and nephews Aspen, August and Oliver Bender of Holland, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Donald (Abe) Mueller and brother-in-law Fred Merricle.

Kathy loved and adored her family as well the teachers and her students. Hearing from her former students and seeing their lives after third grade was a great delight for her. She loved to travel and take adventures stopping at every casino she saw. She loved to watch the Buckeyes and Bearcat sports. She enjoyed spending time with her sister and family at the Lake and was a life member at the Spencerville VFW.

A party to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, January 22 from 1 to 5 pm at the Spencerville VFW. Don't worry there will be food. Please dress casually and we encourage you to wear tie-dye, Bearcat or Buckeye clothes in honor of Kathy.
