Obituary

Laura Nadean Macwhinney, 93, of Columbus, passed away on Saturday, September 6th, 2025, peacefully surrounded by family. She was born on September 1st, 1932 in Bryant, Indiana to Blanche and Raymond Manning.

Nadean was born to shine. From the very beginning, she carried herself with the kind of light that could not be dimmed- confident, independent and full of life. With an eye for style and flair for the elegant and bold; she used fashion to express her confidence. She believed in dressing with purpose, and loved helping others dress just as radiant.

Her compassion continued to shine through her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren where she was always deeply invested in their success and their studies, always curious about their next endeavors, and passions. She cherished the friendships in her own life just as dearly, valuing the bonds she built and the companionship they brought.

Nadean was a woman of elegance, strength and spirit. Her vibrant personality was unforgettable. She had a quick wit, joyful laugh, and a warmth that made her the life of any room. A true fashionista, she embodied class and beauty inside and out. Her style was only matched by her heart, which she so freely shared with the people she  loved.

Professionally, she was a well-known, award-winning retail manager at Lazarus, Macy's, and Jacobson's. Her work ethic was unmatched, working until the age of 84. She was the epitome of drive, dependability, and passion of excellence. Yet it wasn't just her achievements that set her apart, she loved celebrating her associates wins as if they were her own. Always taking the time to encourage and uplift the people around her.

Nadean's legacy will live on in the countless memories she created, in the comfort she shared, and in the example she set of how to live with grace. Though her absence leaves an ache that words cannot mend, her spirit remains ever-present in the heart of those who knew and loved her.
