Obituary

SPENCERVILLE — LaDonna E. Metzger, 90, of Spencerville, passed away peacefully in the Shawnee Manor Nursing Home at 1 PM Friday, December 1, 2017 with her family at her side. She had been a resident at Burton's Ridge Assisted Living Center for a short time, which she enjoyed very much.

She was born August 30, 1927 in Kalida, a daughter of Perry Albert and Golden Zenia Little Good, who are deceased. On June 21, 1947 she married Lewis H. Metzger, who died December 30, 2011.

Surviving are four children; Frederick L. "Fred" (Terri) Metzger of Spencerville; Gary L. (Margo) Metzger of St. Marys; Randall R. "Randy" (Kim) Metzger of Spencerville and Penney R. (Jim) Gerdeman of Ft. Jennings; six grandchildren; Joe (Michelle) Metzger and Rachel (Jarrod) Smith, both of Spencerville; Melina Metzger of Columbus; Abby (Neil) Carlson of Sidney, NE. ; Derek Gerdeman of Maumee and Lance Gerdeman of Ft. Jennings; two step-grandchildren; Jessica (Heath) Worchester of Ft. Collins, CO. and Neely (Mike) Jeckel of Tampa, FL.; and four great grandchildren; Chase and Lena Smith; Rebekah and Matthew Carlson.

LaDonna was preceded in death by her grandson; Jay Metzger and seven siblings; Maxine Good;Pauline Roberts; Colleen McKanna; Ruth Barnes; Eileen McKinley; Perry Good and Betty Shank.

She was a 1945 graduate of Kalida High School and had been a waitress at Jack's Restaurant in Lima . Later she worked as the bookkeeper with her husband and family with their Metzger Farm Drainage Company in Spencerville.

She was a long time member of the Spencerville United Church of Christ and loved baking and listening to the "Big Band" music.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, with Pastor R. Scott Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencerville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 until 8 PM Monday and after 10 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
