Lain
Patterson
August 2, 2000 – October 5, 2023
Spencerville Lain Allen Patterson, 23, passed away Thursday morning at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center following a sudden illness at his home in Spencerville.
He was born August 2, 2000 in Lima, the son of Joshua Allen Patterson and Della Ann Grigsby. His father and step mother Vella Patterson survive and his mother and step father Sean Chapman survive, all in Spencerville.
Lain was a 2019 graduate of Spencerville High School. He was a member of the Midwest Shooting Center and the Northwestern Ohio Field and Stream. He was also a member of the Wapakoneta YMCA where he was training to compete in the next Spartan race this year to complete his Trifecta: a Sprint, Super and Beast race in one year.
Lain was employed by the Allen Oakwood Correctional Institution as a corrections officer. His time outside work was spent on his hobbies, which included hiking and target shooting. He had a love for history and gaming and spending time with his family, friends and his beloved girlfriend, Brenna.
Lain was loved by many for his contagious smile and goofy laugh, he lit every room he entered. He always saw the good in everyone and went out of his way to help others. Lain was a kind and gentle old soul with so much life to live. His family and friends will always cherish the brief time they had with him: He will be forever missed.
He is survived by his very "Special" friend Brenna N. Brazle, six siblings; Sydnie Hammons, Layne Chapman, Cooper Chapman, Tysen Patterson, Ashtyn Patterson and Sophia Patterson; grandparents Mike and Deb Ulm and Greg and Nancy Patterson, all of Shawnee; William "Bill" and Margie (d) Grigsby of Spencerville and Mike and Janey Chapman of Dallas, TX. and great grandparents Bill and Beverly Corwin of Lima.
