LIMA – Larry L. Reeder, 87, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 1:36 AM on April 9, 2025 at Lima Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born on November 19, 1937 in Spencerville, OH to Lester and Frances (Miller) Reeder, who both preceded him in death. On September 4, 1965 he married Vicki Garrettson who was called home on July 24, 2024.

Larry is survived by his three children: Cindy Reeder of Lima, Brad Reeder of Lima, and Pam Reeder of Saudi Arabia; grandson Micah Reeder; sister Judy Rex of Spencerville; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Lois McDermitt, brothers-in-law Robert McDermitt, James Rex and Ron Garrettson, sister-in-law Linda Garrettson, nephew Dennis McDermitt, and daughter-in-law Marnie Reeder.

Larry was a 1955 graduate of Spencerville High School. After graduation he served a short time in the National Guard as a cook. He then worked at Buckeye Pipeline Company for 45 years, first as pump station operator then as mechanical technician, retiring in 2001.

He was an active member of Shawnee Alliance Church where he faithfully served with his wife on the missions committee, including traveling with missions' trips to Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic, and as coordinators of the Keenagers' (senior citizens') ministry. He also visited and prayed with those who were sick, preparing for surgery or shut-in. Larry was a former President of Alliance Men, church elder and volunteered with a group of men from the church to re-roof houses. He also served as a former board member for Beulah Beach Camp and Retreat Center and participated in several work teams since 2008 for church attendees to prepare the grounds for its summer camp season. He was a dedicated fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians and Cincinnati Reds, and enjoyed cooking, golf, fishing and gardening.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, 728 E. 4th Street, Spencerville. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 14, 2025 at Shawnee Alliance Church, 4455 Shawnee Road, Lima where the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Rev. Kris Browning will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville is caring for Larry and his family.

Larry's children would like to express their sincere appreciation to the medical teams at Lima Memorial Hospital and staff of Otterbein Cridersville for the care and compassion given to their father, especially these past two months.
