SPENCERVILLE — Leona M. Browning, 87, of Spencerville, and formerly of Perry County, passed away peacefully at 12:50 AM Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, following a three month illness.
She was born April 27, 1930 in Portersville, Perry County, Ohio, a daughter of Rufus E. and Mary Leona Jadwin Hearing, who are deceased. Her former husband was Robert C. "Bob" Browning, who is deceased.
Surviving are her three children; Caroline K. Browning of Spencerville; Royden R. "Bud" (Debra) Browning of The Villages in Florida and Denise A. (Robert "Bob") Pugh of Venedocia; four grandchildren; Kyle Jamison of Parma; Rev. Kris (Elizabeth) Browning of Shawnee Twp.; Morgan Pugh and Evan Pugh, both of Venedocia; and three great grandchildren; Tyler Jamison, Ava Jamison and Benjamin Browning.
Leona was preceded in death by her 18 year old son Charles E. Browning in 1970 and her three siblings; Doris Cramer, Dean Hearing and Warren Hearing.
She was a 1947 graduate of Zanesville High School and later was a"Proof Reader" at The Lima News and worked in home health care and retired after 30 years in the Dietary Dept. at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home in Spencerville. She was a life member of the Bowersock Bros. VFW Post 6772 Auxiliary in Spencerville. She loved keeping up with her grandchildren and was an avid Bingo player and gardener.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with her grandson Rev. Kris Browning officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencerville Cemetery.
