Spencerville; Lois R. Moorman, a longtime resident of rural Spencerville, Ohio, went home to her Lord November 10, 2023 at Hoosier Village Retirement Center in Zionsville, Indiana.
She was born July 9, 1928 in Salem Township, Auglaize County, the daughter of the late Vernon and Vala Zimmerman Whetstone.
On August 20, 1950, she married Harold V. Moorman, who preceded her in death in 2004. Her brother, Robert D. Whetstone, also preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Gary L. (Becky) Moorman, D.O. of Toledo and her daughter, Judy (Donald) Moorman Birt of Zionsville, Indiana, a sister-in-law, Nancy Whetstone of Lafayette, Colorado, a sister-in-law Myrna (Harrison) Shutt of Lima, and several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to niece Jana (Jim) Ashba for her caregiver respite assistance the past several years.
Lois was a 1946 graduate of Spencerville High School and attended Northwestern School of Commerce. She was employed as a bookkeeper for the Kewpee Restaurant from 1947 to 1953. She later worked as a bookkeeper for two International Harvester Farm Implement stores, one in Delphos and the other in Spencerville from 1966 to 1986. She served as Salem Township Clerk from 1987 to 2004.
Lois was a longtime member of the former Hartford Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school and served as church clerk for 40 years. She was a devoted farm wife and mother. She enjoyed Bible study, sewing, gardening, collecting antiques, and spending time with friends and family.
The Funeral service will be at 1PM on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, with visitation preceding from 10am to 1pm. Pastor Gary Hohman will officiate. Burial will follow at the Hartford Cemetery. Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville is caring for Lois and her family.
