Rockhold

SPENCERVILLE — On November 12, 2018 Lola F. Rockhold went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She had celebrated her 100th birthday in May. Lola was born on the family farm in rural Spencerville on May 13, 1918 to Ralph and Iva (Fryer) Wagner, who are deceased. In 1946 she married Rollin Briggs who survives in Celina. In 1983 she married Stanley Rockhold who passed away in December 1986.
Lola graduated from Spencerville High School in 1937. She was employed for three years at the Cochran Dry Goods Store in Spencerville. From 1940 to 1946 Lola worked at Westinghouse in Lima as a winder – making coils of fine wire. In 1946 she ran a little restaurant in a logging camp near Tillamook, Oregon. In 1947 she and her husband returned to the Spencerville area and for the next 22 years she would serve his automotive repair business as a bookkeeper. In 1970 Lola began working for Duff Truck Line in Lima as a secretary and bookkeeper, retiring from there in 1983.
Love, commitment and genuine appreciation for family and friends was a central theme in Lola's life. She was an accomplished seamstress and outstanding cook and baker. In her retirement, she spent time sewing for Shenk's in Delphos. Lola was an active member of Spencerville Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a Past Matron and 64-year member of the Spencerville Chapter Order of the Eastern Stars.
Survivors include two sons, Arden Briggs of Sidney and Bruce Briggs of Mendon; two step-children, Rebecca (Tom) Kellermeyer of St. Marys and Vaughn (Leslie) Rockhold of Olmstead Falls; three grandchildren, Korey Briggs of Delphos, Derek (Ashley) Briggs of Hilliard and Rachel (Kevin) O'Brien of Land O' Lakes, Florida; two great-grandchildren, Alexis Briggs and Gage O'Brien; two siblings, Ruthela (Curtis) Hager of St. Marys and Dow Wagner of Spencerville; and a sister-in-law Gloria (Harry) Wagner of Muncie, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray (Margaret) Wagner, Tom (Fern) Wagner, and Harry (Gloria) Wagner; two sisters-in-law Margaret Wagner and Fern Wagner; and a brother-in-law Curtis Hager.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday in the Trinity United Methodist Church in Spencerville with Pastor Josh Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencerville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 PM Thursday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, where an Order of Eastern Star service will be held at 7:45 PM Thursday. On Friday, visitation will be after 9:30 AM at the church.
