MABLE WIEN

SPENCERVILLE — Mable Leona Wien, 89, of Spencerville, died at 4:14 AM Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at St. Rita's Medical Center following a brief hospital stay.

She was born May 27, 1926 in Blanchard Twp., Hancock County, Ohio , the daughter of Samuel Orlando and Mable Jane Pfouts Spence, who are deceased. On June 4, 1944 she married Thomas Lester Wien, who died September 9, 1976.

Mable is survived by two daughters; Dolores J. (Bill) Geer of Traverse City, MI. and Jane A. Rutkowski of Oregon, Ohio; 4 grandchildren; Diane (Dave) Coates of Traverse City; Neil (Desiree) Rutkowski and Russ Rutkowski , both of Toledo and Jennifer (Paul) Sparks of Traverse City, MI.; 7 great grandchildren; Rob & Zak Denny; Hannah, Lauren and Hunter Rutkowski and Cameron and Rilee Rutkowski and a brother; Jerry Spence of Lima and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 3 children; Freddie Neil Wien, infant Kathy Jo Wien and Keith Allen Wien and 4 brothers; Samuel, Arven, Al and Danny Spence.

Mrs. Wien was a graduate of the McComb High School and was a very involved member of the First Baptist Church in Spencerville. She was an excellent cook and seamstress and was always with her crossword puzzle books up until her death. She would have been 90 on May 27th. She was known for her faith, tenacity and her apple dumplings. She had retired from the Roselawn Manor Nursing Home in Spencerville as a cook.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Pastor Jim Fletcher officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the Baptist Church and burial will then be at 2;30 PM in the Benton Ridge Cemetery in Hancock County.

Friends may call from 5 until 8 PM Friday and after 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church.
