Obituary

Max Meyer passed away on February 24 th , 2021 in his home surrounded by his family.  He was the loving husband of Jane (Sensabaugh) Meyer, who survives in Spencerville.

Max was born in Lima OH to Rudy and Alice Meyer who proceeded him in death.  He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1955 and immediately joined the United States Marine Corp.  After serving his country, he joined the work force delivering ice cream for Kolter Buckeye. In October of 1968, he began working for Stedke Construction, where he retired from, after 32 years.  Although officially retired, Max could not sit still.  He began working for Heartlight Pharmacy delivering nuclear medicine pharmaceuticals.  He enjoyed his part time job, especially visiting with all the people he delivered to.  Max never met a stranger and brought joy to all who were fortunate enough to know him.

He was a very active member of the community.  He was president of the little league baseball association in Spencerville and worked to get uniforms for all the participating teams.  He was named Citizen of the Year as well as Booster of the Year in Spencerville.  He also started the girls little league softball program.  There wasn't a project needing to be done where Max wasn't eager to chip in and help.

Max is lovingly remembered by his children, Kim (Larry) Pearcy of Terrebonne, OR, Deana (Steve) Denlinger of Lake Forest, CA, Julie Berecz of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, Steve (Laura) Meyer of Spencerville, P.J. (Tiffany) Meyer of Elida; his grandchildren, Kyle (Shelby) Pearcy, Timmy Denlinger, Taylor Berecz, Austin Berecz, Emilee . Meyer, Jacob Meyer, Keaton Meyer, and Kassidy Meyer; his great-grandchildren Riley and Piper Pearcy.  His siblings Marlene Groves of St. George, Utah, Stan (Phyllis) Meyer of Smyrna, Delaware, and Dr. Jay (Mary Jane) Meyer of Bellefontaine Ohio, and sister-in-law Joan.  Also proceeding Max in death, his in-laws Popeye and Joy Sensabaugh, eldest brother Roy Meyer, brother-in-laws Elmer Sensabaugh and Ray Groves, and sister-in-law Norma Garn.

There will be no visitation.  A private service for the family will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021 at United Church of Christ. Military rights to be conducted by the Marine Honor Guard and Spencerville Veterans.
