Obituary

Spencerville;  Max O. "Peck" Sheets, 85, of Spencerville, passed away at his residence Saturday morning, October 1, 2022.

He was born November 11, 1936 in Spencerville, a son of the late Norvel "Peck" and Freda M. Barnett Sheets. , On May 24, 1958 he married Gertrude "Trudie" Scherpe in Wiesbaden,  Germany, and she survives, along with two sons; Conny (Luann) Sheets of Lima and Randy Sheets of Mendon; three granddaughters; Michelle (Chad) Bardo, Crystal (Boris) Chernov  and Chelsea (Elliott) George, all of Lima, eight grandchildren, Dylan Bardo,  Jordan Coleman, Colton Bardo, Cayden Edwards,  Aubrey and Ivan Chernov and twins,  Charlotte and Elsea George and his sister Edna Meuleman of Dayton.

Preceding him in death is his brother Loy "Peck" (Marie) Sheets and brother-in-law Joseph Meuleman.

Peck was a 1955 graduate of Spencerville High School and then joined the Army, where he served three years in Germany during the Korean War. He worked 45 years at the former Nameplate & Monogram Company, later known as Trim-Trends in  Spencerville, retiring as a Mill Rite for the company.

He was a proud veteran as a Life Member of the Bowersock Bros. VFW Post 6772 in Spencerville, serving with its many activities and enjoying his long friendships there. He and Trudie enjoyed caring for their many cats over the years.

Graveside military rites will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday in the Spencerville Cemetery by the Army Honor Guard and the Spencerville Veterans.
