Michael "Mike" R. Briggs, 74, of Spencerville passed away at 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.

Mike was born on February 14, 1949 to Charles M. and Peggy J. (Lindamuth) Briggs at St. Rita's Hospital in Lima, OH. He grew up in Spencerville and graduated from Spencerville High School in 1967. After high school, he continued his educated at ITT in Indiana and took some classes in Dayton. Mike did electrical work when he was employed with Meta-Kote Corporation in Lima.

Mike was a passionate collector of Model T's, and Fordson tractors and lawn mowers. A lifelong love of Mike's was with the Boy Scouts. He became an Eagle Scout when he was in high school and continued to stay involved with the scouts as a Scout Master of Spencerville Boy Scout Troop #02. He always had a great interest in Native American Reservations, traditions and customs.

Mike was survived by his mother, Peggy J. Briggs of Spencerville; sister, Sue Ann (Danny) Goetz of Spencerville; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles M. Briggs.

There will be a visitation from 11:00-1:00 p.m. followed by his funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Pastor Andrew J. Atkins officiating the service. Burial will take place following the service at Mount Union United Brethren in Christ Cemetery.
