Nancy was born on March 14th, 1952 at Fort Campbell, KY, where her father was stationed. She was an alumna of the Mendon-Union High School in 1970, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She went on to attend Wright State's Lake Campus. She was also a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in St. Marys, Ohio.

In 1973, she married Darrell Edward Hartung, a member of the United States Navy. They relocated to Madison, Indiana where they raised 4 children, Darrell Ivan Hartung Sr., Jennie Lynne Hartung, Amanda Kay Garrett, and Michael Andrew Hartung. Her hobbies included sewing, crochet, cooking, travel, watching the NASCAR and rooting for the Cincinnati Reds.

She is preceded in death by her father, Harold Wayne McCune; her mother, Emily Jean (Shimp) McCune, her grandfather, George Lester McCune; her grandmother, Charlotte Mae (Morris) McCune; her grandfather, Merle Shimp; and her grandmother, Catherine Suzanna (Brodbeck) Shimp.

She is survived by her sister, Cathy Sue (Elvin) Williams; her brother, Neal (Maria D) McCune; her husband, Darrell Edward Hartung; her 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

There will be a visitation from 10:00-1:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with pastor Scott Rowe officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Kossuth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite children's charity.
