Norma Jean "Jeanie" Leis, 86, of Spencerville, passed away at 10:55 AM Tuesday, January 17, 2023 in The Meadows of Delphos, with her family at her side.

She was born August 21, 1936 in Fort Jennings, a daughter of the late Joseph Henry and Marie Hoersten Ellerbrock.  On December 29, 1958 she married Bernard L. Leis, who died January 22, 2000.

Jeanie is survived by four children, Larry J. (Ann) Leis  and Teresa S. "Terri" (Kevin E.) Klaus, both of Delphos; Gene H. (Liz) Leis of Cridersville and Richard A. (Angie) Leis of Celina; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grand and 2 great great grandchildren; her in-laws, Jan Leis of Spencerville and Dolores Winters of Marysville and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her siblings; Margaret (Ralph) Suever, Armella Ellerbrock and Ruth (Carl) Betts,  in-laws Robert and James Leis and Tom Winters and her Special Friend, Bob "Pooch" Louth.

Jeanie was a graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School and retired after many years work in the Spencerville School Cafeteria's. She was a member of the Spencerville United Church of Christ, the VFW Post 6772 Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 191 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed above all, her family, her flower gardens, watching birds and shopping.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with her grandson-in-law Garrett Myers officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Spencerville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 until 8 PM Thursday and after 10 AM Friday at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorials be made to All Star Pet Rescue, Deb's Dogs or to the Allen County Humane Society, all of Lima.
