PHYLLIS WILKINS
MENDON — Phyllis Ann Wilkins, 82, died at 5:17 p.m. Dec. 5, 2014, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center after her battle with cancer.
She was born Nov. 16, 1932, in Union Township near Mendon, to Lester J. and Noretta L. "Nora" Hinton Wilkins, who preceded her in death.
Ms. Wilkins was a 1949 graduate of Mendon-Union High School and then took employment at Reynolds & Reynolds Co. in Celina, working in its office for 48.5 years until retirement. She never missed a day of work, even on snow days she would stay in Celina overnight to be at work the next day. Being very athletic, she pitched softball for 18.5 years for the Celina Merchant teams. She loved OSU football, bowling and golf. She volunteered for the Mendon Festival of Trees and the Mendon Firecracker Festival.
Survivors include a brother, Robert L. "Bob" (Charlene) Wilkins, of rural Mendon; a sister-in-law, Juanita Wilkins, of Wapakoneta; two nephews, Grant Wilkins, of Collinsworth, Oklahoma, and Curt Wilkins, of Wapakoneta; a niece, Andrea Hull, of Celina; a great-nephew, Austin Hull, of Celina; and a great-niece, Brandi Hull, of Celina.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen R. Wilkins; a brother, Glenn W. Wilkins; and a sister-in-law, Peg A. Wilkins.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. The Rev. Donald Clinger will officiate. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
