Obituary

Spencerville; Randall W. "Randy" Roof,  of Spencerville, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, January 4, 2022 at his home, surrounded by loved ones.  He was preceded in death by his father Richard V. Roof, his mother Sally Sue Miller Roof, and his brother Rick Roof.  He was born October 19, 1961 in Lima, Ohio.

He is survived by his loving wife Kim Patterson Roof of 38 years of marriage who he married on March 19, 1983.  He left behind three children, LeeAnn (Allen) Merricle, Richard (Amanda) Roof, and John (Brittany) Roof, all of Spencerville, and four grandchildren who he adored, Addison and Delanee Roof, Charlotte and Sophia Merricle, his brother Ron (Mary Ann) Roof of Shawnee, dear friend Sharon Metzger, mother-in-law Barbara Patterson, brother-in-law Ron (Sheila) Patterson, sister-in-law Shelly Shreves, all of Spencerville, numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Randy was very active in Boy Scout Troop 2 in Spencerville, having earned the distinction of "Eagle Scout".  Randy was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Order of Eastern Star, the Model "T" Club, and the Sons of the American Legion Post 191, where he held local, District and State Commander's offices (93/94).   He was formerly a coach for the S.Y.A.A. and had been a 4-H advisor.  Randy was the "Voice of the Bearcats" at Memorial Field for almost 20 years.  He spent many years building football lamps for each senior Bearcat football player.

He enjoyed vacationing with his wife and best friends.  He spent time driving and working on his Model T collection.

Randy worked for Buckeye Pipeline for over 21 years before moving on to Roberts Pipeline for the last 10 years.  He enjoyed his work and the time spent with his children and grandchildren, but most of all he enjoyed the relationship he had with his wife.  Randy is loved and will be missed by his family, friends, and community.

Funeral services will be 1 PM Saturday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Pastor Andrew J. Atkins officiating.  Burial will follow at the Fort Amanda Cemetery, next to the Fort Amanda Park.

The family will receive friends from 3 until 8 PM Friday and from 9 AM until services Saturday at the funeral home where Masonic Memorial Services will be conducted at 7:45 PM Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the SOS Project in Randy's name.
