Rex Levoy East passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026 at 6:00am at Roselawn Manor in Spencerville.

Rex was born on August 25, 1934 in Coalfield, Tennessee to the late Alonzo and Nora Belle East. He attended school and graduated from there lettering in football and track.

After high school, he moved to Dayton, Ohio where he met his wife Barbara and they were married in Lima, Ohio where he worked at the Ford Lima Engine Plant until retirement.

Rex enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, softball and volleyball.

Rex is survived by his four children, David, Douglas (Evelyn), Leann (Tom) McPheron and Scott, along with 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Ruth Rittenhouse and niece Sue Davis from Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Lois, Edith, Nadine and brother Carl.

There will be a gathering of friends and family on Tuesday July 28, 2026 from 10:00-12:00 at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with his funeral starting at 12:00 with Pastor Andrew J. Atkins officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville is caring for Rex and his family.
