RICHARD HANJORA

LIMA — Richard "Dick" Hanjora, 85, of Amanda Township, died at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 7, 2014, at his residence after an extended illness, with his family by his side.

He was born May 27, 1929, in Toledo to Albert A. and Anna V. Nichols Hanjora Joseph, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 30, 1953, he married Maxine Ruth Aurand, who died July 19, 2011.

Mr. Hanjora served in the U.S. Army in Korea, receiving the Purple Heart. He worked as a tool grinder at Ex-Cell-O Corp., Dana Corp. and General Dynamics and retired from Dana Corp. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772 in Spencerville, a member of the Allen County Sportsman Club and the United Auto Workers union.

Survivors include four children, Kenneth W. (Robin) Hanjora, of Orlando, Florida, Karen M. (Jim) Clevenger, of Gomer, Kristine L. (Richard) Morse, of Granby, Connecticut, and Kevin R. Hanjora, of Lima; five grandchildren, Nikki Clevenger, of Lima, Derek (Christina) Hanjora, of Orlando, Florida, Chad Hanjora, of Orlando, Florida, Anna Marie (Doug) Heffner, of Spencerville, and Nathan (Amanda) Hanjora, of Lima; seven great-grandchildren, Jolynn Hanjora, Gabbie Hanjora, Haley Hanjora, Izzy Hanjora, Ella Heffner, Elanor Heffner, and Abigail Hanjora; five siblings, Vietta (Jim) Robertson, of Toledo, Willmina Stapleton, of Toledo, Sarah Thomason, of Carthage, Missouri, Albert (Bert) Hanjora, of Spencerville, and June Hanjora, of Toledo; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Reynolds, of Wayne; two special nephews, Danny (Merri) Hanjora, of Lima, and Mike (Kim) Hanjora, of Spencerville; and several other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three siblings, Harriet (Ronald) St. Johns, Marty (Donald) Smyth, and Elmer (Jesse) Hanjora; and a brother-in-law, Chuck Thomason.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. The Rev. Tom Shobe will officiate. Burial will be in Allentown Cemetery with military rites by the Spencerville Veterans.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
