Spencerville;  Richard "Digger" Hoverman, 88, died January 5, 2021 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center following a short illness. He had been a resident at Otterbein, Cridersville.

He was born March 24, 1932 in Salem Twp., Auglaize County to the late  A. J. and Helen Vogel Hoverman. On August 29, 1953 he married Arlene M. Thielk, who survives at Otterbein.

Also surviving are two daughters, Diann (Paul) Dunlap of Spencerville and Joann Pitts of Lima.

Dick was a 1950 graduate of Spencerville High School and then served as an electrician in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 thru 1955.

He was a life long farmer and a Salem Township Trustee for 20 years.  For 40 years he worked for Seibert Farm Drainage.

He was a long time member of the Kossuth Zion United Methodist Church.

Private family funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Kossuth Cemetery with Pastor Allan Brown officiating.
