Richard A. Klaus, 70, of Middle Point, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne.
Richard was born on June 26, 1954, in Lima, OH to the late Philip Patrick and Lucinda Ann (Meyer) Klaus. He grew up in Spencerville, one of thirteen kids, and graduated from Spencerville High School in 1973. Dick had a few jobs after high school, but began working for the Elevator in Middle Point where he worked for 31 ½ years. He was a hard worker and in his early years, after a long week of work, his friends and him would spend their weekends roofing houses.
Richard enjoyed scrapping and working with scrap metal as well as tinkering in his shop. He also liked fishing, camping, meeting up with friends for dinner and taking on different maintenance jobs at the elevator.
Dick leaves behind his significant other of twelve years, Cheryl Smith of Middle Point; eight siblings, Phyllis Seffernick of Wapakoneta, Louise Renner of Van Wert, Kenny (Sandy) Klaus of Spencerville, Phil Klaus Monticello, Rosemary "Rosie" (Jerry) Hesseling of Delphos, Dorothy "Dot" (Doug) Geise of Delphos, Mike (Kim) Klaus of Celina, and Cheryl Theobald of Delphos; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Klaus of Tiffin and Sandra Klaus of Wapakoneta; many many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Buddy. He's preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Albert Klaus, Robert Klaus, James Klaus, and Cecelia Klaus; and in-laws, Connie Klaus, George Seffernick, Robert Renner, Rachel Klaus and Joe Theobald.
There will be a visitation from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. Visitation will continue from 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by his funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025 also at the funeral home. Burial will take place following the service at Spencerville Cemetery. Memories may be shared and viewed by visiting www.baylifffuneral.com. Thomas E.
