RICHARD TAYLOR

DELPHOS — Richard Lee "Tobe" Taylor, 84, of rural Delphos, died at 1:40 PM Saturday, June 11, 2016 at his residence under hospice care following a year long illness with Leukemia. His family was at his side.

He was born June 12, 1932 in Elida, a son of Christopher George and Myra O. McMichael Taylor, who are deceased. On June 28, 1953 he married Rosalie V. Kieswetter, who survives. They would have celebrated 63 years together this month.

Tobe was a 1950 graduate of Elida High School where he played 3 sports, football, basketball and baseball. He then served 3 years in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a retired Route Salesman for 26 years with Nickles Bakery in Lima. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church near Elida. He was a lifelong sports fan of the Elida Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Browns and enjoyed fishing.

Others survivors are his daughters; Suzanne Taylor of Delphos and Jill Maxwell of Jackson Center; two grandsons; Cory (Abi) Maxwell of Wapakoneta and Aaron Maxwell of Jackson Center and a great grandson; Isaac Maxwell and his siblings; Dorotha Plummer of Grand Rapids, MI.; Merle (Marilyn) Taylor of Lompoc, CA. and Velma ( Dan) Coy of Findlay, OH. and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law; James R. Maxwell, Jr.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday in the Zion Church, 9290 Zion Church Road, Elida, with Rev. David W. Howell officiating. Burial will follow in the Allentown Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 until 8 PM Tuesday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville and after 9:30 AM Wednesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Church or to St. Rita's Hospice.
