Spencerville  Richard A. "Dick" Zimmerman, 86. of Spencerville, passed away at 2:30 PM Monday, July 5, 2021 in the Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center following a short illness.

He was born April 23, 1935 in Logan Twp., Auglaize County, the son of the late Arthur Franklin and C. Louise Hirn Zimmerman. On August 15, 1981 he married Mary Anne Neil, who passed away February 15, 2012.

Dick was a 1953 graduate of Spencerville High School and served in the U.S. Army and attended Ohio Northern University after the service. He worked in the administration of and later truck driving for Scott Lad Foods in Lima, starting in 1961 and retiring in 1997.

Surviving are his three sons, Douglas A. (Denise C.) Zimmerman of Spencerville, Kevin J. (Cheryl L.) Zimmerman of Aurora, CO. and Michael A. (Emily V.)  Zimmerman of Parker, CO., his step-sons; Sean (Della) Chapman of Spencerville and Matt (Kendra) Chapman of Lafayette; 7 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren.  Dick was preceded in death by his sister; Janice (Bill) Reed.

Dick's request was for a graveside funeral service to be private for his family, which will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday in the Spencerville Cemetery with Rev. John Medaugh officiating.
