Obituary

Robert (Bob) E. Creighton, a retired Executive V.P. of Sales in the bakery industry and resident of Quincy, Ml, passed away of cancer on June 23, 2022 at the age of 70 at his home.

Bob was born in Providence, RI on July 27, 1951 to his late parents Frederick and Rose (LaBrie). Bob grew up in Riverside, RI where he was always getting into trouble with his late siblings Frederick, Rosemarie (Fournier), David, and Edward. Bob's mother had her hands full raising this bunch in the big green house on the corner. Some of Bob's favorite activities growing up were making his sister laugh so hard she would pee her pants, running around with his best friend Kenny Ryan, fishing and having clambakes on the beach with his brothers.

After Bob graduated from East Providence High School, he started his long-time career in the bakery industry. This career would take Bob to several different states before becoming plant manager at Nickles Bakery in Lima, OH in 1982 where he stayed for about 15 years.

Bob's love of the water never ceased and he longed to be on the lake. Bob and his wife Marilyn (West) would always keep a camper and a boat in northeast Indiana so they could go to the lake every weekend. When he got the opportunity to take a position at New Horizons Baking Company in Fremont, IN, in 1995, he was elated to be able to move to the lake full time. Bob retired from New Horizons as Executive VP of Sales in 2016. During his career at New Horizons, Bob set an outstanding record for safety, was featured on the cover of Baking & Snacks magazine in 2002 for Operations Executive of the Year, and helped grow the company exponentially.

Bob loved his career and was one of the best, but he enjoyed spending time with his family above anything else. Bob's children Teresa (Doug) Lowry, Sherry, and Bobby (Kimberly) were always his top priority. His children always knew they could count on him for advice (even when they didn't ask for it), a good laugh (especially when telling jokes about chickens), and unconditional love and support. Bob loved taking his children on family vacations, going out on the boat, having a cookout, and anything that required togetherness (even if the kids didn't want to). Bob's love of family extended to his siblings, and all of his nieces and nephews and their families. His love also extended to clams which inspired him to bring clambakes to Michigan to share with family and friends.

Some of Bob's favorite past times were moving his wife's car so when she came out of the store she couldn't find it, tricking his daughter in to thinking she had the perfect Hi-Lo-Jack hand, and making his son laugh so hard he did a spit take. Bob also enjoyed being a member of his Corvette club and showing his Corvettes at competitions where he won several awards over the years.

Much to Bob's delight his daughter Teresa made him a grandfather to Jacob (Haylee) and Amanda (Austin) of Spencerville, OH. His son, Bobby, gave him a couple more grandchildren Devin and Breonna Creighton of Pleasant Lake, IN. And his daughter Sherry surprised the heck out of everyone by giving him a fifth grandchild, Creighton Sullivan of Pleasant Lake, IN. Jacob made him a great grandfather to Olivia and Cecelia.

Funeral services will 1 PM Saturday, July 2, 2022 in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, Ohio, with Pastor Andrew J. Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencerville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 1 PM Saturday, July 2, at the funeral home, 728 East Fourth Street, Spencerville, Ohio 45887.
