ROBERT LEIS

SPENCERVILLE — Robert E. Leis, 86, of Spencerville, died at 10:15 AM Wednesday in the St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, following an exended illness

He was born December 9, 1929 in Spencerville, a son of Harman and Lola C. Strohl Leis, who are deceased..

He was a 1947 graduate of the Spencerville High School and served in the Army during the Korean War in Kodiac, Alaska. For over 50 years he has been the owner and operator of Reliable Plumbing and Heating Company in Spencerville.

Bob is survived by 2 daughters; Ann (Ed) Dolan of Kilmarnock, VA. and Cheri R.( Jeff Mulholland) Sites of Spencerville; 5 grandchildren; Valeri (Richard, Jr.) Kline of Nashville, TN; Stephen Sites of Spencerville; Lisa (Michael) Jernigan, Patrick (Renee) Dolan and Sean (Katherine) Dolan, all of Richmond, VA. 11 great grandchildren; Amber, Kaelin, Conner, Ryan, Grace, Addison and Kiley;all of Richmond, Va.; Lauren, Brooke and Olivia, all of Nashville and Brittnie of Celina; 2 great great grandchildren;Jackson and Kylan ; his sister; Dolores Winters of Raymond,Oh and 2 sisters-inlaw; Jan Leis and Jean Leis, both of Spencerville; his special friend Barb Patterson and special cousin; June Rose (Ralph) Truax.

He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers; James and Bernard Leis, his brother-in-law; Tom Winters; and his long time companion Julia Gruebmeyer. Her son survives, Darren (Danielle) Gruebmeyer and sons; Mathan and Jarred.

Bob was a second generation and life member of the Spencerville United Church of Christ, where he had been a member of its choir and had served on the official board. He was a member of the VFW Post 6772 and American Legion Post 191, both of Spencerville; the Northwest Ohio Field and Stream Assn. and Retail Merchants Assn. also of Spencerville.

Special appreciation for Jeff Mulholland's friendship and companionship over the years and assistance in his time of need.

He loved going to Las Vegas, the Outer Banks, Lake Erie and Canada fishing, Costa Rica Tarpan fishing, snowmobiling, playing cards, NASCAR, Suduko, Golf, bowling and mushrooming. He was a great lover of music and special times were when the instruments came out, the family would break out singing. He played the twelve string banjo and guitar.

Funeral services will be 1 PM Sunday in the Spencerville United Church of Christ with Rev. Michael Cassady officiating, with military rites following the service at the church by the Spencerville Veterans.Burial will be at a later date. A reception will follow the services at the VFW Post.

Friends may call from 2/4 and 6/8 PM Saturday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville and from 12 to 1 PM Sunday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the childrens activities at the Northwest Ohio Field and Stream Assn.
