RODNEY HEGEMIER
WAPAKONETA — Rodney C. "Rod" Hegemier, 67, of rural Wapakonta, died at 5:55 PM Tuesday, August 23, 2016 in the St. Rita's Medical Center Emergency Dept. following a sudden illness.
He was born March 6, 1949 in Celina, a son of Donald E. and Lillian M. Stoner Hegemier. His father is deceased and his mother lives in Wapakoneta. On November 28, 1986 he married Rhonda L. Beckman, who survives, along with 3 children; Michael S. (Kelly) Hegemier of Greenville; Christie R. (John) Locklin of Lake Helen, Fl. and Curt E. (Vici Russ) Miller of Wapakoneta; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and 3 siblings; Carol (Howard) Garber and Steve (Mary) Hegemier, both of Wapakonta and Dennis (Jill) Hegemier of Lake Conroe, TX. and his daughter-in-law; Tracy Hegemier of Ottawa Lake, MI.
Preceding him in death is his son Scott A. Hegemier.
Rodney attended the Memorial High School in St. Marys and had been a self employed truck driver and had also worked at the Auglaize County Highway Garage, Miller's Textile and Auglaize Pallet Shop. They had enjoyed horseback camping in the Ohio State Parks and had been active with Buckeye Farm Antiques and loved to restore tractors with his wife. They had owned nearly 40 restored tractors at one time.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, with Pastor Jim Menke officiating and burial will follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery at St. Marys.
Friends may call from 2/4 and 6/8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
