ROLAND REMPFER

SPENCERVILLE — Roland Perry Rempfer, 87, of rural Spencerville, died at 3:25 AM Saturday, June 13, 2015 in the Roselawn Manor Nursing Home in Spencerville.

He was born April l, 1928 in Spencer Twp., Allen County, a son of Lewis Bennett and Edith Flarida Rempfer, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 30, 1950 he married Donna June Shepler, who survives, along with four children; Donna (David) Holtzhauer, Vonda (Chuck). Frances and William (Teresa) Rempfer, all of Spencerville and Clifford (Connie) Rempfer of Mendon; six grandchildren; Adam (Kristen) Rempfer of Lima; Sherry (John) Gardner of Hilliard; Andrea (Eric) Kill of Spencerville; Jeffery (Miranda) Holtzhauer of Spencerville; Michael Rempfer of St. Marys and Morgan Rempfer of Mendon; a step grand child; Louis Frances of Shelby Twp., Ml.; 6 great grandchildren; Chase Rempfer; Olivia and Cooper Gardner; Trevor, Jamie and Audrey Kill; two sisters; Alice (William) Feasby of Van Wert and Lewedia (Sam (dec'd)) Fitzsimmons of Beavercreek, OH.

He was preceded in death by a sister; Mary (Charles) McCain and an infant brother.

Roland was a 1947 graduate of Spencerville High School and went on to serve in the Korean Conflict in the Army, being discharged in 1953. He was a carpenter and loved farming and had operated the Rempfer Sawmill for many years. He was a Farmall Tractor guy and a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Lima Local Union # 372 and was a member of the Bowersock Bros. VFW Post 6772 in Spencerville.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 17 in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Pastor David W. Howell officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencerville Cemetery with military rites by the Spencerville Veterans.

Friends may call from 2 until 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
