Obituary

Dr Ronald P. Bell, 88, of Lima, passed away Monday September 26, 2022, at The Greens, Lima Convalescent Home, following a brief illness. He was born August 2, 1934, in Turtle Creek, PA to the late William A.P. "Scotty" and Fanny (Hill) Bell. On June 8, 1957, he married the love of his life, Sue (Lowry) Bell. He met Sue in the 7 th grade and did not know how to live life without her upon losing her to death in February 2022. They were married for 64 years.

Ron graduated from Lima Central High School, class of 1952, and The Ohio State University. He earned his medical degree from OSU and served as an Army physician at Ireland Hospital, Ft. Knox, KY. Upon the conclusion of his military service, Ron and Sue moved their young family back to Lima. Ron joined the medical group of Anesthesia Associates of Lima and practiced medicine as an anesthesiologist for 39 years.

Raised by Scottish immigrant parents, Ron and his older brother Bill were introduced to the sport of golf early in life. It was a game Ron loved and excelled in! While in college, Ron played for the freshman golf team at Ohio State and later went on to win the OSU Intramural Golf Championship. He also won the Shawnee Country Club Championship 9 times.

Ron was our rock and a man who loved and took care of his family. He worked long hours, but never complained, and always made time for the most important people in his life. He was kind, responsible and the wisest person we knew. He was deeply loved by his wife and children and admired by most who had the opportunity to know him.

Survivors include his children: Dr. Gregory (Karen) Bell of Lewis Center, OH, Anne (Jimmy) Brown of San Diego, CA, and Douglas (Heather) Bell of Lima, 6 grandchildren: Laura (Taylor) Cook, Jay Brown, Jeffrey Brown, Nathan Bell, Erika Bell and Parker Bell.

Also surviving are a sister: Nina B. Clark of Sun City West, AZ, sister-in-law: Joanie Bell of Lima and brothers-in-law and sisters-in law: John and Barbara Pike of Maumee, OH and Scott and Jackie Miller of Hilliard, OH, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Ron in death were his parents, his wife Sue, and his best friend and brother, Bill Bell, of Lima.

Ron was a lifelong member of Market St. Presbyterian Church. He and Sue cherished their friendships and support from church family, especially over the last year. In lieu of flowers, contributions honoring Ron may be made to Market St. Presbyterian Church.

A private funeral service for Ron will be held later for family.
