SPENCERVILLE — Ronald Joseph Perrine, Sr., 66, of rural Spencerville, passed away at 4:55 PM Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in the James Hospital at The Ohio State University in Columbus with his family at his side, following an extended illness.
He was born February 16, 1952 in Lima, a son of Anthony and Jean Marie Brunn Perrine, Jr. His father is deceased and his mother survives in Elida. On November 20, 1971 he married Judi D. Smith , who survives, of Spencerville.
Also surviving are his son; Ronald J. (Emily) Perrine, Jr. of Lima and his five grandchildren; Miranda (Taylor) Burkholder and Anthony "Page" Perrine, both of Delphos; Karmyn; Kamryn and Kendall Perrine, all of Lima and two great granchildren; Teddy and Kaden Burkholder and four siblings; David Perrine, Deborah Converse, Mari Jo Sunderhaus and Jon Perrine, all of Lima.
Ronald was a 1970 graduate of Elida High School and earned an associate degree at NBC College in Lima and worked many years at the General Dynamics Tank Plant in Lima in assembly and welding inspection. He also owned the Bass'n Bait Company, where they made award winning fishing lures.
He attended the Only Believe Ministries Christian Center in Botkins and was a very avid fisherman and was a charter member of the Cridersville Bass Busters. He owned Perrine Motor Sports and was crew chief for his son and his Modified and late model dirt race cars, mainly at Eldora and Limaland Race Tracks for 20 years. Ron was voted "National Crew Chief" in 1998. He was also an avid bowler, having rolled "300" games at both Northland and Westgate Lanes in Lima.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM Monday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home , St. Rt. 117 in Spencerville. Burial will follow in the Gethsemani Cemetery in Lima.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 PM Sunday and after 10 AM Monday at the funeral home.
