Lima; Sue Y. Bell, 86, of Shawnee, passed away at 11:20 PM Saturday, February 26, 2022 in the Lima Convalescent Home, following an extended illness.
She was born March 10, 1935 in Spencerville, the daughter of the late Melvin and Ruthella Kennedy Lowry. On June 8, 1957, the day after graduating college, she married her high school sweetheart, Dr. Ronald P. Bell, who survives, along with their three children, Greg A. (Karen) Bell of Lewis Center, Ohio, Anne E. (Jimmy) Brown of La Mesa, CA. and Doug W. (Heather) Bell of Lima, six grandchildren, her half-brother, Scott (Jackie) Miller of Hilliard and step-sister, Barbara (John) Pike of Maumee.
Sue was preceded in death by her half-brother, Johnnie Lowry, her step father Frank E. Miller and step-mother Esther Beerman Lowry.
She was a 1953 graduate of Lima Central High School, where she was a cheerleader throughout her high school days. Then in 1957, she graduated from The Ohio State University, College of Nursing.
Sue was a member of the Market Street Presbyterian Church, OSU Alumni Assn., Kappa Alpha Theta Social Sorority, the Junior Service League and the Shawnee Country Club, where she was a member of its Hole-In-One Club.
Funeral services will be 3 PM Saturday, March 5, 2022 in the Market Street Presbyterian Church in Lima, where the family will receive friends from 1 PM until service time Saturday.
Rev. Ken Chorle will officiate the services. Burial will be at a later date in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Market Street Presbyterian Church.
