Spencerville;     Susan M. Barnes, 70, of Dayton, formerly of Spencerville passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023 after a brief illness surrounded by her family at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

Susan was born on September 14, 1953 in Lima to the late Donald Dean and Lela Pauline (Reynolds) Barnes. She grew up in the Spencerville area attending Spencerville Local Schools. Susan was employed with Huffy's for over 22 years before her retirement. In 1995, Sue met the person she would spend the rest of her life with, Shelly Humphrey.

Sue was very musically inclined and enjoyed playing the organ and her guitar. She never knew how to read sheet music, but was talented enough to hear the tune and play it. She had a great love for the outdoors, including fishing and swimming. Most of all Sue loved her family. Being very close with her family, she enjoyed all the memories made with them and like her siblings, loved partaking in the birthday phone calls.

Susan was survived by her life partner of 28 years, Shelly Humphrey of Dayton; two brothers, Steve (Rita) Barnes and Tim (Stacie) Barnes both of Spencerville; father-in-law, Jerry (Virginia Fickert) Humphrey of Celina; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Joyce Barnes.
