SPENCERVILLE — Walter Eugene Miller, 86, of Spencerville, died 2:38 a.m., Tues. May 1, 2018, at Lima Memorial Health System. He was born Sept. 30, 1931, in Delphos, OH, the son of Clarence A. & Dorothy (Briggs) Miller, who preceded him in death. On July 7, 1951, he married Lucile M. Shark, and she survives.
Other survivors include, 3 sons, Thomas E. (Tamara) Miller, Spencerville, Paul D. (Brenda) Miller, Findlay, John C. (Bretta) Miller, Spencerville, 8 grandchildren, Michael C. (Mary Meyer) Miller, Spencerville, Shawn T. (Mataya Edwards) Miller, Spencerville, Ben M. (Andrea Mays) Miller, Spencerville, Jay D. (Niki) Miller, Cincinnati, OH, Paula J. (Eric Robey) Miller, Lima, Rachael L. (Mike) Overholt, Lima, Crystal L. (Matthew Witta) Miller, Fostoria, OH, Erica P. (Ben Longbrake) Miller, Columbus, OH, 14 step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 18 step great grandchildren, 1 step great great grandchild, a brother, Richard Miller, Wapakoneta, a brother-in-law, Russel (Armeda) Shark, Spencerville.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Joann Rahrig.
Walter retired after 39 years of service as a machinist at Excello- Textron, Lima. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the Korean War . He was a life member of the Bowersock Bros. V.F.W . Post #6772, and a life member of the American Legion Post #191, both of Spencerville. He was very active with the honor guard for military funeral services. Walter enjoyed the outdoors, doing yard work and fishing. He also enjoyed tinkering and fixing things for family and friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Fri. May 4, 2018, at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, with Pastor John Medaugh officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Spencerville Veterans at the funeral home following the funeral service. Burial will be at a later date in the Spencerville Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Thurs. and from 10 – 11 a.m., Fri. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Spencerville V.F.W.
