Kossuth; Wayne McMichael, 69, of rural Wapakoneta, passed away peacefully at 4:50 AM Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at his residence, after spending an evening surrounded by his loving family. He won the battle with cancer by meeting Jesus. He was born on August 20, 1954 in Lima to the late Max and Vonda Whetstone McMichael. He married his wife, friend and soulmate, Patricia Creviston on October 6, 1979, who survives.
Also surviving are his four sons, Scott (Margaret) McMichael of Wapakoneta, Jay (Jennifer) McMichael, Ryan (Stephanie) McMichael, and Grant (Kristin) McMichael, all of Spencerville. His loving grandchildren are Samantha, Cole, Brelyn, Savannah, Delia, Vera and Max. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren and loved to attend their many activities.
Wayne was a 1974 graduate of Spencerville High School, playing football and being active in the FFA. He served on several boards throughout his life including Nominating Committee of Farm Credit of Mid America, United Equity, and Salem Township Zoning Appeals Board. He was involved with the FFA Alumni and Young Farmers, serving as an officer at different times.
Wayne was a dedicated worker and provider for his family. He was a lifelong farmer and loved working alongside his dad, brother Roger and cousin Bob in the fields. He also worked for Gallaspie Farm Drainage for several years, while continuing to operate the farm. He continued to work on the farm until the end spending hours harvesting corn just days before his passing. He will continue to finish the harvest with his dad and brother Roger in heaven.
Wayne is also survived by his cousin Bob (Nancy) McMichael, siblings Sue (Billie) Ford, Maxine McMichael, Gary McMichael and Allen (Sally) McMichael, his sisters-in-law Teresa (Ben) Rempfer, Deb McMichael, Anita Gagnon, and brother-in-law Kevin (Tina) Creviston, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Roger.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Pastor Allan Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Kossuth Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 PM until 8 PM Friday, November 10, 2023 and an hour before the service on Saturday in the funeral home. Memories may be shared and viewed by visiting www.baylifffuneral.com. Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville are caring for Wayne and his family.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Grand Lake Regional Cancer Center, who provided Wayne and his family comfort and care during his battle with cancer.
