"Bill" Morris
May 25, 1935 – December 2, 2022
William "Bill" L. Morris, 87, of Spencerville passed away peacefully on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 7:58 A.M at Springview Manor in Lima.
William Morris was born on May 25, 1935 to the late Carl L. and Leona E. (Shepler) Morris at their home just outside of Spencerville. Bill grew up around Spencerville and graduated from Spencerville High School in 1953. After graduation, he began his lifelong career as a painter. Working for himself, through the painters union, Bill took great pride in his work and was very thorough with each job. He also raised Holsteins from a young age until the day he passed away. On November 10, 1956, Bill was united in marriage to Martha A. "Marty" McMichael. Marty passed away on January 8, 2002.
Bill was a very active member of the Free Masons and of The Order Of Eastern Star. He was a member of the Acadia Lodge #306 F&AM in Spencerville for 60 years and transferred his membership to Mercer Lodge #121 in St. Mary's after the Acadia Lodge closed. He was also a member of the Spencerville Chapter #130 Order Of Eastern Star and the Delphos Chapter #260 Order Of Eastern Star after Spencerville's chapter closed.
Bill is survived by his son, Harold W. "Skeet" (Jeanette) Morris of Elida; granddaughter, Ashly Ann Morris of Spencerville; four great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Eleanor (Blaine) Place of Ft. Myers, FL and Kathy Anders & friend Connie Ingalls of Lima; and a very close friend, Tony Brown. He was preceded in death his parents, his wife, sister Jane A. Roesner, and one great grandchild.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 from 5:00-7:30 P.M. with the Order of the Eastern Star Service starting at 7:30 P.M. followed by a Masonic Service at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. Burial will be at a later date at the Spencerville Cemetery.
